Photo of the day
Super Cow, Houston CowParade 2001
I saw the movie, Superman III Sunday night so I thought about this cow.
Super Cow has the unique distinction of being the cow with the best view of CowParade, as she was mounted approximately 400 feet on the arm of a working crane in downtown Houston.

Super Cow was inspired by the juxtaposition of a cow and a superhero. The idea of such a docile, peaceful animal saving the city from evil villains is unexpected. The image of such a lumbering, rotund animal wearing tight, udder-fitting spandex and walking up a vertical wall is inspirational. The artists said, “We hope the overall result is amusing and that when people see Super Cow, they laugh and feel a little safer knowing that they are being protected by this high flying bovine superhero.”

Stuff Creators is a Houston-based design consortium that makes professional-quality, truly unique “stuff” that people cannot get anywhere else. Consortium members are assigned projects based on expertise and personal interest. Charles Buchanan, David Buchanan, Jill Butler, Jason Holden, Kristy Kyle, and William Lidwell conceived, designed, and created Super Cow. The group has a wide variety of professional and personal interests including engineering, instructional design, graphic design, industrial design, writing, painting, drawing, and metalwork.
