Wildflower, Houston CowParade 2001
Today is the last day of the Philadelphia Flower Show. This cow says that you should go!
Wildflower is a beautiful reclining cow grazing on Texas wildflowers. Her bright white coat is covered in sixteen different varieties of colorful Texas wildflowers. The varieties include bluebonnets, coreopsis, Indian paintbrush, Indian blanket, showy primrose, prairie rose, baby Texas blue eyes, Texas stars, winecups, meadow pink, field poppy, Mexican poppy, Mexican hat, common sunflower, purple coneflower, and morning glory. Wildflower has a few butterflies scattered among her wildflowers and a brass hoop earring in her left ear.
Artist Laurei Svec was inspired to create Wildflower by an artistically minded friend in El Paso who encourages her to try new things. Her friend, who can no longer practice her art due to multiple sclerosis, has many creative thoughts and ideas that she passes on to Laurie. Laurie was raised in Corvallis, Oregon and attended Oregon State University, Central Texas College, and later, Houston Community College to acquire an Associate Degree focusing on commercial art. She is a member of the Watercolor Art Socity, The Houston Egg Art Guild and Wome in Visual and Literary Arts. Laurie is a watercolor artist and writes childrens stories.
